Pierre Fabre Award

SCT - Pierre Fabre

The Company Pierre Fabre and the Société de Chimie Therapeutique (SCT) are awarding the “Pierre Fabre Award for Therapeutic Innovation” Prize to Gilles Gasser for his original scientific contributions in the field of therapeutic innovation.

The “Pierre Fabre Award for Therapeutic Innovation” is a distinction conferred each year on the occasion of the International Conference on Medicinal Chemistry (RICT) and the Laureate is invited to deliver a 45-minute plenary lecture.

The jury awarded the prize “Pierre Fabre Award for Therapeutic Innovation” to:

 Gilles Gasser

Gilles GASSER (CHIMIE PARISTECH, PSL UNIVERSITY, Paris, France) for his pioneering work in Inorganic Chemical Biology, Medicinal Inorganic Chemistry and Medicinal Organometallic Chemistry. This prize of 3000 € is financed by Pierre Fabre Médicament.

Gilles Gasser was born, raised and educated in Switzerland. After a PhD thesis in supramolecular chemistry with Prof. Helen Stoeckli-Evans (University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland), Gilles undertook two post-docs, first with the late Prof. Leone Spiccia (Monash University, Australia) in bioinorganic chemistry and then as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow with Prof. Nils Metzler-Nolte (Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany) in bioorganometallic chemistry. In 2010, Gilles started his independent scientific career at the University of Zurich as a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) Ambizione Fellow before obtaining a SNSF Assistant Professorship in 2011. In 2016, Gilles moved to Chimie ParisTech, PSL University (Paris, France) to take a PSL Chair of Excellence.
