SCT-SFNano Joint Meeting

When Medicinal Chemistry meets Nanomedicines: Molecular Aspects of Targeting, Activation and Delivery of Drugs

 Paris, France    April 8, 2014

Preliminary considerations

The French Medicinal Chemistry Society (Société de Chimie Thérapeutique – SCT) and the French Society for Nanomedicine (Société Française de Nanomédecine – SFNano) have combined efforts to propose to a large audience topics of common interest, in order to facilitate communication among scientists from both societies, and to develop new contacts and research opportunities.

Aim of symposium

The attention is focused on one major area where molecular and mechanistic aspects prevail and serve as a dominant strategy for drug optimization: targeting - activating - delivering systems of drugs.

The activation, in particular of carriers and linkers, leading to drug delivery is a rather complex process since sequential steps need to be fine-tuned in order to achieve the desired drug delivery with a high safety margin.

Physico-chemical, pharmacokinetic, or specific mechanism based approaches for the design of drug delivery systems are progressing, leading to new generations of targeting strategies.

Preclinical and clinical aspects will be developed and illustrated by early and mature targeting systems. Proof of concept studies, recent progresses and perspectives with examples of new conjugates strategies will drive the symposium.

Audience

This one-day meeting is dedicated to medicinal chemists, pharmacists, pharmacologists and scientists involved in DMPK.

Key words:

  • Molecular aspects of targeting, activating and delivering drugs , a new role for  medicinal chemists
  • Design, scope and limitations (synthetic aspect and design of linking, activating, delivering systems)
  • Physico-chemical, pharmacokinetic /pharmacodynamics and specific mechanisms
