Excursion 1: The Wall & East City Berlin

This tour shows you the highlights of Berlin with a special focus on the German History after WWII. We will start the tour at the Hotel Estrel heading North to Kreuzberg. The Oberbaumbruecke separated West Berlin Kreuzberg from the East Berliner district Mitte. This historical bridge offers you a great view on the skyline of Alexanderplatz. On the other side of the Spree you find the East Side Gallery, probably the most famous remains of the Berlin Wall and certainly worth a Photo Stop. We continue the tour driving along the Karl-Marx-Allee, a unique open-air museum of Socialist Realist architecture in Germany, whereas the boulevard Unter den Linden Berlin shows its Prussian face. Along this boulevard you find many fine building from the 18th and 19th century including the Museum Island, the Berliner Dom, the State Opera and the Humboldt University. The end of the boulevard marks the Brandenburg Gate. Afterwards we will see different sides like the Reichstag, the PotsdamerPlatz and LeipzigerPlatz and finally Checkpoint Charlie, that was always a symbol of the Cold War.

Excursion 2: Kreutzberg District

The tour will start from the hotel and will continue over the “Oberbaumbrücke”, the entrance to Kreuzberg. There you will discover the trendy district where locals and tourists love the popular streets, for its array of art and craft shops, restaurants and bars. The atmosphere of this district is dominated by the large multicultural mix of residents. In summer, an almost Mediterranean flair pervades the Bergmannstraße and parts of the neighbourhood with their numerous green spaces and outdoor cafés. A wide range of international culinary specialities are on offer. On Marheinekeplatz, where Bergmannstraße passes through, you will get 30 min free time to go shopping in a typical Berliner market hall. On your way back you will pass the former Tempelhofairport …discover one of Berlin’s coolest districts!

Excursion 3: City Walk & Boat Tour

Berlin is well known for its courtyard culture and traditions established in the 19th century. Especially the famous Mitte district in the heart of Berlin (former East) with crowds of cosmopolitan aspirants offers a lot of lovely backyards to discover. The „HackeschenHöfe“ is a complex of several backyards which are kept in a rich architectural style. Colourful mixes of craftwork, arts, services, designer productions, restaurants, shops as well as apartments are installed in these complexes of 8 courtyards and make you discover the typical Berlin lifestyle. After the exciting guided city walk through HackescherMarkt we will continue with a 1,5 hours boat tour along the River Spree which will drop you off directly in front of the hotel Estrel. Along the way the tour will pass famous sights and stops of Berlin.

Excursion 4: Historical Berlin by Trabant Car

A fairly unusual way to get to know the Berlin is to explore the city in aTrabi - the cult symbol of the former GDR. In those times people had to wait up to 20 years before their own Trabi was delivered. You will not have to wait that long! Trabi Sightseeing - chugging throughthe streets of Berlin! The tour passes by the symbol of Berlin - the Brandenburg Gate and the boulevard ‘Unter den Linden’ where almost every building can tell its own story on Berlin’shistory. The tour continues in the beautiful surroundings of the Lustgarten – theold royal gardens, pass by the Museum island where some of the best museums in the world are located. A unique way to discover Berlin!
